My Non-Toxic Beauty Favorites

If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know that I’ve been on a skincare journey. If not, here’s a quick recap! Basically, for my entire life, I thought I had bad skin. I didn’t have severe acne or anything, but the texture of my skin always seemed dull, flared, and rough. In my early thirties, I started to have a really serious reaction on my eyelids and lips when I wore certain products. They would swell up and get super flaky and scaly, and nobody wants that!

After a ton of testing, I found that I had a fragrance allergy, skin dermatitis, and sensitive skin. Even though the ups and downs of my skincare journey were trying, I am grateful that I got through them so that I could blossom into the non-toxic beauty enthusiast I am today.

What Is Non-Toxic Beauty?

Water and oxygen can be toxic in the wrong dose. So, when a beauty product is labeled nontoxic, it likely means that the ingredients have not been shown to cause adverse health effects at the levels found inside the formula and for the intended use. This is true of every beauty product currently sold in the United States. In the clean beauty space, nontoxic means that a product shouldn’t include any ingredient that’s been deemed toxic at any dose by a third-party resource like the European Union or Environmental Working Group.

While it may be similar, “non-toxic” beauty is not the same thing as sustainable beauty, green beauty, or even clean beauty. They all mean different things, even though they are all great. Harpers Bazaar has a great article on the differences between each one here

My Favorite Non-Toxic Beauty Products

Long story short, discovering non-toxic beauty products has changed my life for the better! I often post about my go-to products on Instagram, but I get a lot of messages asking me, “what was that serum you liked” or “what kind of make-up did you use in that Reel” and let’s face it, I don’t expect people to sift through my feed to go try and find it. Instead, I figured I’d round up my tried and true non-toxic beauty products for you to try!

Let’s get into it.

My Favorite Non-Toxic Body Products

For my body, I always opt for Linné products, specifically their Smooth Body Balm and Replenish everywhere oil. I love the sheen it gives my skin and the moisture they provide. You can literally use these products everywhere, from you scalp to your cuticles. It’s also safe for babies, if you are a mother! Feel free to use BRANDYXLINNE at the checkout for a little discount on me.

As an alternative, I also love Necessaire’s Body Serum. Totally necessary, if you ask me. *wink wink* Use code BRANDYJOYSMITH at the checkout for a discount on this product, as well!

My Favorite Non-Toxic Face Products

Your face is the most sensitive area to put products, of course, so going the non-toxic route is super beneficial! I love Linné’s Revive Imulsion for eyes. I know this is the kind of product that feels like it takes forever to see results, but this one actually does a pretty damn good job! Personally, when it comes to face products, I’m always looking for anti-aging benefits, and this one has been great for reducing puffiness and smoothing out fine lines. Highly recommend!

For a great overall moisturizer, I love Ameon skincare. They have tons of great products to choose from based on your skin type!

Lastly, for a fantastic all-in-one serum, I recommend MERIT Great Skin Instant Glow Serum. It’s a lightweight, bi-phase serum (50ml) that instantly hydrates and plumps skin for a healthy glow!

My Favorite Non-Toxic Makeup Products

Now, before we get into makeup, I know that everyone is very particular about the brands they use. I’m not about to preach how products are better than the ones you love, so I’ll keep it short and sweet with one word: MERIT.

MERIT Beauty is my trusted brand for all things makeup. There are honestly so many great ones, but I’ll name a few that I love to turn to for a quick glam.

  • Minimalist Stick in Buff

  • Brow 1980 Volumizing Pomade in Neutral

  • Clean Lash Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara in Black

  • Day Glow Highlight Balm in Bounce

  • Signature Lip Lightweight Lipstick in Aperitif

…and those are just a few! If you give the brand a try, I would love to hear what products you picked and what you think of them!

So, what do you think? Will you make non-toxic beauty a part of your 2023 beauty routine? I can confidently say it was a game changer for my skin and overall confidence, so I hope it can have the same impact on you!
